Bless this food...

God is great,
God is good,
let us thank Him for this food.
Amen.

How many of us heard this or said this every day at mealtimes? It's a very short "blessing", often muttered quickly by children who were eager to begin eating.  When you said or heard the words, were they meaningful to you?  Did you contemplate the words as you spoke them or heard them?

God is great.
God, the creator of the universe, knows all, sees all, loves all.  All powerful, all loving, Let that thought dwell in you.

God is good.
The world is full of troubles, corruption, decay, pain, sorrow.  People hurt other people, there is disease, poverty, and disappointment.  But God is good.  Do you believe that?  When his whole world was crumbling, Job did.  Reread the book of Job for a reminder of that today.

Let us thank Him for this food.
Practice gratefulness.  Consider what blessings we have. the large and the small things, the people in our lives, our health, and opportunities.
Amen.
So be it.  We all agree.  That is true. That is right.
May you all have a wonderful day, and a thoughtful, grateful to God day!!!
